I Hope

A Symphony of Ash & Tears

I wrote this poem in June 2020. At the time, I was processing my emotions and examining my heart after Blackout Tuesday — trying to make some sense of the tragedies that sparked its creation. I decided to share it to help others process their own emotions.

I dream seas of color

Color bathed in light

Flickering across the surface

Dazzling in her might

I wish skies of splendor

A whirl of wind & cloud

Dancing for the sun & stars

Far above the world so proud

I see fields of fire

Fueled by prideful fears

Sweeping across the land

A symphony of ash & tears

I hope

I co-wrote and produced a video essay on the same subject. It was featured in film festivals across the country.
